Construction often means moving loads that are too heavy or awkward for a standard truck. Steel beams, timber, machinery, and containers need the right vehicle and a safe lift. Crane truck hire Gold Coast services can combine transport and lifting in one job.
A crane truck has a lifting crane fitted to the vehicle. It can load freight, carry it to another location, then lift it off. Depending on the job, the crane may place goods beside the truck or reach over an obstacle.
The right setup depends on the load, ground, access, and rated capacity.
Crane trucks suit jobs where lifting and delivery happen together. Common loads include:
• Steel beams and wall frames for building work.
• Timber packs and roof trusses for homes and commercial sites.
• Site sheds and shipping containers that need careful placement.
• Machinery, water tanks, and general freight that cannot be unloaded by hand.
• Signs, poles, and similar items that need to be lifted into position.
Some jobs need a different crane or extra lifting support. Share the details before booking to help assess the right option.
The truck’s carrying capacity and crane lifting capacity are different. A truck may carry a heavy load but lift less at a given reach. As the boom extends, safe lifting capacity can change, so the load chart matters.
On The Move Transport lists 8 tonne, 10 tonne, and 12 tonne crane trucks, plus flatbed trucks, semi-trucks, and semi crane trucks. Tray sizes, payloads, and reach vary by model. Check current fleet details before relying on a specific capacity.
| Vehicle type | Best suited to |
|---|---|
| Crane truck | Loads that need lifting as well as delivery |
| Flatbed truck | Bulky freight that can be loaded by suitable equipment |
| Semi-truck | Larger freight loads and longer transport runs |
| Semi crane truck | Freight that needs both a larger transport setup and crane lifting |
The right vehicle depends on weight, dimensions, lifting distance, access, and the unloading plan.
Before arranging crane truck hire on the Gold Coast, prepare these details:
Safe lifting starts before the crane moves. The operator must follow the maker’s instructions and use the equipment within its limits. Keep people clear of suspended loads and crush zones. Precise placement or loads outside the operator’s view may need extra lifting support.
Freight must also be secured for road travel. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator says loads must be placed to keep the vehicle stable and restrained so they do not fall or shift. Flag unusual shapes, loose parts, and fragile items before loading.
Before the truck arrives, clear the planned work area and let site staff know when lifting will take place. Check that the delivery point is ready and that no parked vehicles block access. If the load has more than one drop point, tell the provider in advance so the order can be planned.
Ask whether the job needs a site inspection, a lifting plan, or other documents. These needs vary with the load and worksite. Clear details at the start help avoid last minute changes and make it easier for everyone to understand their role.
A local provider may know the area’s site access limits and delivery needs. On The Move Transport offers crane truck hire and transport across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and other parts of South East Queensland.
When requesting a quote, explain what needs to move, how far the crane must reach, and what the site looks like. These details help.
Confirm the load, access, placement point, and safety needs before booking. Choose a truck based on its payload and crane limits, not just the biggest number listed.
For construction deliveries, machinery, or site materials, crane truck hire Gold Coast can combine transport and lifting. Contact On The Move Transport to discuss your load and site needs.
